The PTCO is organized for the following purposes:

- To assist the faculty, staff and administration of SBS Charter School
- To contribute to the sense of community among the families served by and attending SBS Charter School
- To provide public service opportunities for SBS Charter School's students and families
- To facilitate programs and opportunities that encourage families to become involved in the education of their children
- To promote and plan activities for students that serve their educational, developmental and social needs
- To engage in such fundraising activities that are necessary or proper to achieve the above mentioned PTCO purposes
The PTCO has been meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 P.M.
Join SBS friends at Pump it Up on Wednesday, January 27 at 5:30 P.M. Please return R.S.V.P. slips, pizza order and payment to the main office. if you can contribute a delicious treat for bake sale it would be much appreciated.
The PTCO is planning a Winter Warm-up Pot-Luck on Friday, February 5th. Families are asked to bring a favorite family casserole to share (min. 20 servings) plus $5 per family to cover paper goods/drink costs.
Restaurant fundraising partnerships build community and raise funds at the same time. If you know of a local restaurant willing to donate a percentage of sales to a favorite charity (SBS,) please share the contact name and number with a PTCO member.
Burger Bar will donate 10% of the bill to Side by Side if patrons mention SBS when ordering on March 7-9 so gather friends and family for a dinner out and support your favorite cause.
If your family has enjoyed one of our SBS Family Fun nights in the recent past and you want to bring this back to our school events calendar, please let one of the PTCO members know and we'll work to make that happen. We need to know what, where and how you like to spend time with your children and other SBS families.
Class Facebook pages are a great way to get to know your child's classmates and their families. There are so many free family friendly places to gather and build friendships outside of school. If you haven't found your class on Facebook, speak with Evelyn in the office to get help starting one.
Thank you to the many families who respond so cheerfully to our appeals for donations, volunteers or goods and services. A significant portion of the money generated through fundraising is used to cover the costs of field trips for every grade level, but particularly the upper school field trips to Nature's classroom, Sturbridge, Gettysburg and Washington, D.C. Additionally, the PTCO may grant teacher requests for classroom materials and activities periodically or fund cultural arts presentations once or twice in the school year as funds are made available.
International Night was well attended again this year and everyone enjoyed a delicious variety of exotic dishes to sample. This is a great way for our families to spend some time together celebrating what we all share - our love of good food! Our Miss Chocolate fundraiser was a great success. We raised over $2,800 for the school. Harvest Fair brought many families together for games, treats and a chance to win beautiful gift baskets assembled by parent volunteer Hans Bulteryst. We net about $1,000 at this event each year but the good will and community spirit that is a hallmark of this tradition is priceless.
